today i was shopping at pier 1 for some throw pillows for my bed. it has only recently occurred to me that my current pillows (dating back to the mid 80's) are not only hideously out of style but also do not match a single item of my bedding. apparently familiarity doesn't breed contempt, it merely breeds oblivion. anyhow, so i'm shopping and the lady is trying to help me. my sole purpose for going to pier 1 was that i had purchased a duvet there a few years back and thought i might be likely to find matching pillows there (hardy-har-har). well, my duvet was obviously no longer in stock so i tried to describe it to the lady. in trying to determine the appropriate pillow ensemble for me, she asked me what the overall "style" of the room was. to that i replied that it was minimalist. now what she didn't know was that "minimalist" is code for "i don't have enough stuff to fill the room." but i think the new pillows will help my style anyway. they'd sure better seeings as how i'm not slated to buy any more until the summer of 2017.
