diet coke and decaf coffee. what's the point? i'd just as soon drink a glass of water than have a coke with no sugar or coffee with no caffeine.

you see, coke and coffee are what i would describe as "double bonus" drinks. by that, i mean that you get the primary bonus of enjoying a delightful beverage and the secondary bonus of the sugar and/or caffeine boost.

diet coke and decaf coffee, on the other hand, are what i would describe as "negative bonus" drinks. the beverages are unpalatable, to say the least. and, if you should suffer through an entire 8 to 12 ounces of either, you gain nothing! no spurt of energy, no pep in your step, no regularity - nothing! so, why bother?

i’ve actually got to run to a meeting where i’m presenting on one specific benefit of coffee, so if you’ll please excuse me…
