i just awoke from a wonderful dream about Shipley's Donuts. in my dream, it was a saturday morning and i was headed to albertson's for breakfast (who knows?!). i made a wrong turn and, to my great amazement found myself staring at Shipley's. there was no difficultly in deciding to abandon my plans for the albertson's breakfast special and pull into Shipley's instead. so i parked and went in and made my way toward the counter. but on the way i stopped to tell a Shipley's Lady (complete with a brown apron) how much i LOVED Shipley's* and how i didn't even know there was one in ft. worth* and how i was originally from houston* where Shipley's was founded* and how i was also friends with the granddaughter of the Shipley Empire* (*actual true facts). she was very impressed with my knowledge of Shipley's and seemed relieved that at last a customer was taking interest in the corporate legacy of which she was so proud to be a part. so, i finally get to the counter and notice that they have specials GALORE on donut holes, everything from single servings to family-sized buckets overflowing with those little guys. very convenient since my favorite donut is the donut hole. so, i ordered 3 dozen and planned to share them with my roommate since she had never had the joy of Shipley's. i paid with a credit card and, for some reason, the cashier gave me back my card and an additional dollar bill. i thought this very odd, but very kind. i was teetering on whether i wanted chocolate milk or coffee, but coffee evenutally won out, so i made plans to stop at 7-Eleven on the way home to round off my perfect breakfast with a steaming cup of their savory brew.
but then the thunder and rain outside roused me from my slumber and i realized that i really had to pee and that it had all been a dream and that there still weren't any Shipley's in ft. worth. luckily i had managed to cram a couple of donut holes into my mouth before i woke up...
