i stare endlessly at the tiny brown diamonds on the western wall of my cube. they interweave to form a revolting argyle wallpaper that is reminiscent of both the socks i wore in junior high and the album cover of michael w. smith's project.

speaking of smitty...through an adventure in babysitting, a good friend of mine once found herself in the sprawling home of this stylish pop artist. unable to resist the curiosity (or the opportunity), she cracked open the door to his closet and let her eyes sweep the room until she saw it. that's right, it. the very argyle sweater used for the album photo shoot was hanging there in all it's glory. the details become sketchy at this point, but i think she got a snapshot of herself wearing the famed sweater. but the alleged picture has never surfaced, therefore no proof of the event exists. but the story lives on in the hearts of everyone who's ever cried while listening to Friends are Friends Forever or stared endlessly at the tiny brown diamonds on the wall.

(*note: i searched high and low for the original album art for the project , but could not find it. seems even mws recognized the error of the argyle and gave the album cover a facelift)
