we just had our first celebrity sighting! we were walking down E 66th St. and asked a doorman if there was a grocery store nearby (craving a late nite cheesecake, we were). he pointed wildly eastward and said something that sounded like "joolani, pass joolani and then on the right!"

we kept walking and were like "joolani?" ... is that a store? ... "giuliani?" ... "mayor giulani?!"

before we knew it we were walking by the famous nyc mayor and his posse. i stared (nonchalantly, of course) as we passed. julie would have stared too, but her right contact was giving her a bit of trouble -- she had pirate eye (argh, giuliani!). after we had cleared the entourage i turned around to celebrate the sighting with yimay and julie, but realized that yimay had not completed the pass. instead, i witnessed her sticking out her hand saying "mayorgiuliani?imyimayimfromtexas!" he responded with a firm, double-clasp handshake. it was classic.
