ooh - just had impromptu interaction with landlady in front yard. we were shooting the breeze pleasantly when she busted out with the "so, what do you do?" question (read: how do you afford your rent). i did not figure it wise to confide in the landlady that i am unemployed and having a midlife crisis. so i replied (with an air of importance), "i recently resigned from a position with a software company and have decided to pursue contract work for the present." she might have been impressed were i not clad in only a tank and boxers.
