last fall i ordered a wedding present from dillards' online registry one day before the wedding (yes, i am a procrastinator). i showed up to the wedding empty-handed, but wasn't feeling bad since i knew the gift would arrive soon. a couple of days later i received an email from dillards stating that the item was backordered, but would ship soon. i never received a shipping confirmation.

why do i bore you with the details? well, a long time has passed since then and i never received a "thank you" note from the bride (not that i particularly care about the note, but i found it odd since i heard from other friends that they'd received a note). so, i had a sneaking suspicion that dillards never shipped the gift. i had a little extra time on my hands today (imagine that), so i got on the horn with dillards to try and figure out this thing. according to their records, the gift shipped the day after it was ordered. hmmm.... so did she get the gift and shaft me on the "thank you" or is dillards mistaken? i may never know -- unless, of course, i break all the social rules of engagement and ask my friend "hey, didja get a present from me last november or what?"
