today i had the privilege of dining at the original chick-fil-a in atlanta, ga.* it sported some old-school architecture as well as a full-service seating area. there were people waiting in line to be seated and served. they also had the more traditional self-seating area, but the menu seemed more ancient dairy queen than modern-day chick-fil-a. they actually served burgers. yep, burgers! according to the menu, they were the "home of the famous dwarf burger." this whole beef thing caught me off-guard considering their extensive pro-chicken/anti-cow ad campaign. i considered trying the hamburger "just for the experience" of it, but eventually chickened out (no pun intended, really) and ordered a chicken sandwhich and fries. to my great dismay (and to the even greater dismay of my mom), they were not waffle fries, but just plain ole soggy stick fries. despite the disappointment on the french fry front, the chicken sandwhich was as enjoyable as ever.

the whole experience was really quite fascinating. i was so obsessed with reading the walls (they had the company story posted around the room) that i made a terribly poor lunch companion. it's not every day that a girl gets to eat at the original chick-fil-a.

* party fact: when it was founded it 1946, it was called the Dwarf House
