i was browsing the cake mix aisle at walmart this afternoon when i witnessed a man in a motorized cart REMOVE his right leg and plink it down into his basket (think prosthetics). i made a casual comment to him -- you can't possibly ignore the removal of a limb -- and he answered back in a friendly manner. though slightly surreal, the incident didn't seem terribly out of place.

there we were, just two people looking for the right box of muffins.
