my car has The Funk. it's a slightly musty odor that is intensified in hot and/or humid weather, which there is currently plenty of. i keep my car generally clean and try to enforce a "hike in, hike out" policy for both myself and passengers so that the floorboards never gather significant debris. of course, over the last nine years i may have been known to spill a few cups of coffee or leave an occasional banana under the seat, but those things still don't add up to The Funk.

so i did something today i've never ever done before. i sprayed a scent in my car. this made me extremely nervous as i didn't want my car to smell like, well, one of those trees that you dangle from the rearview. i've always held the opinion that putting fresheners in stinky cars is akin to applying deodorant after you've contracted b.o., or spraying glade after a "big" trip to the bathroom. i mean, what is the point? but desperate times call for desperate measures. now i've got that New Car Smell.
