Life Outside My Rearview Window: A Decade in Retrospect, Intro

I was driving down to Houston yesterday and got to thinking...(When I'm in the car alone for an extended period, I either tend to think excessively or sing to the point of hoarseness).

I was thinking about where I'm at in life and my journey to this point and junk like that. My memory tends to be poor (with a few unexplained and oddball exceptions, such as who was/wasn't wearing underwear when a family photograph was taken in 1979, or a home phone number from 1988). So, I figured it might be self-gratifying to go back and recall a few particulars from the past decade in an effort to savor the past just a little.

Furthermore, I decided to attempt the retrospective via blog since I haven't written about anything lately anyway. My readership has dwindled to nil due to my failure to produce consistent content. I don't think my mother even checks here anymore.

So, my next ten or so blogs will be looking back, by year, on the last decade. Here we go.
